Hafeez Giwa is the Founder and Managing Partner of H Capital International (“HCI”) and co-founder of HC Capital Properties (“HCCP”). HCI is a privately held investment, development, and advisory firm with a focus on Real Assets. Mr. Giwa is responsible for the firm’s investments and business activities in West and Central Africa and since its inception in June 2014 has led transactions exceeding USD$385,000,000 in aggregate value. As a real estate professional in Sub-Saharan African Hafeez has been involved in transactions that exceed USD$1,000,000,000 in aggregate value (as of March 2022) and these include some of the most iconic developments in Nigeria, Cote d’ Ivoire and Ghana.
Prior to H Capital International and HC Capital Properties, Hafeez was a Vice-President in the London office of Actis; an Emerging Markets focused private equity firm that have raised over USD$15billion of capital and distributed close to USD$8 billion. At Actis, Hafeez focused on real estate investment opportunities in the Office, Retail, Hospitality, and Industrial asset classes, across West and Central Africa exceeding an aggregate value of USD$650MM.
Mr. Giwa started his career in investment banking & private equity in New York and London, where he worked in Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate division. He focused on advising major U.S. and European investors and clients and was involved in ~USD$50 billion worth of transactions. Including the Blackstone USD$39 billion Acquisition of Equity Office Properties and planned IPO of Sam Zell’s Equity International. As an analyst, he also spearheaded Morgan Stanley exploring the Nigeria real estate industry.
Mr. Giwa holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Harvard Business School. Hafeez also received a BA in Finance (with honours) from Howard University, where he was a Morgan Stanley – Richard B. Fisher Scholar and a Schweser – CFA Scholar
